Taking responsibility, not excuses.

With everything going on, I have had some slips. I broke the bike last month and have been busy with school and studying that my training has taken the back seat. I know this is not a good thing so I will be doing a 12-week program with a week extra in there for play in case I miss a few days and can add them back in.

That said I will start on Monday with a nice 1.6km swim. It will hurt because I haven’t been in the pool in 3 weeks, but it will be all good. The bike I’ve got down and the run I can do but the swim has and always will be the hardest part of my training.

Also Check out my new bike.

Leadercast 2015

Today when I was at #Leadercast2015 and while there one of the first speakers named Andy Stanley said something that stuck with me. He was talking about #Nehemiah and how his enemies would try to discourage him, kill his men and try to stop him from rebuilding the walls around his city. They tried everything and as a last straw they invited him to a meeting to talk and as he was on the ladder he turned around and he said

"I am doing great work and cannot come down."

Myself I didn't realize how much that meant until I got home and started to think about it. I've been told by so many that everything I want to do is never going to work. I was told that my efforts for the community cleanup were not going to work. This year it is 9 years strong. I was told that my plan to raise money for sick kids was not helping anyone but my own self. I never asked for recognition.

My efforts with the various events that I participate in are all about attention for me. I am not about that. I don't care to become a celebrity, but I care about the causes that I tirelessly work on. That is why I do what I do, and that is why when the haters knock, I have to turn and say "I am doing great work and cannot come down."

New plan is in the works.

So last weekend I was going to do my Olympic distance triathlon, but 2 days before my race I hit a snag. I hit a pothole at 38 km/h and broke a spoke. I couldn't do my ride at all so I had to scratch my event. But I've been working on my training and I now have a plan to go forward.

I found a plan on triathlon.competitor.com that I am going to be working with. I will lay it all out and will share it all as a Calender or something. It is a 16-week plan and I will be starting it next week even though it will still be 17 weeks out. Better to have that extra week and do it right than start late and not do it at all.

Next week we start Monday with a Rest day so that means I will also start with some Yoga and maybe some 30-day shred or Bob Harper's DVD workout. Time to start over and work at losing the weight. I have a goal to lose 10 pounds a month and that will put me at around 240 pounds for race day.

That said I want to wish everyone a very special week and remembers to enjoy it and live it to the fullest.
